Virtual Diagnostic Evaluation with Dr. Alex Crenshaw
Anxiety Assessment for Adults Near Atlanta
Structured virtual diagnostic evaluation with Dr. Alex Crenshaw — so you know what you're dealing with and how to treat it.
Anxiety is one of the most common reasons adults seek therapy. It's also one of the most commonly misunderstood — both by the people experiencing it and, sometimes, by the clinicians treating it.
Not all anxiety is the same. Generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic disorder, OCD, health anxiety, and PTSD all share surface-level similarities — worry, avoidance, physical symptoms, difficulty functioning — but they have different underlying mechanisms and respond to different treatments. Treating the wrong one, or treating anxiety as a single undifferentiated problem, is one of the most common reasons people stay stuck.
A formal anxiety assessment is how you find out what you're actually dealing with.
Dr. Alex Crenshaw offers structured anxiety evaluations for adults virtually via secure telehealth. His approach is evidence-based, precise, and informed by current clinical research. Explore our full range of psychological testing and diagnostic evaluations.
When Anxiety Deserves a Closer Look
Most people with anxiety disorders don't describe their experience as anxiety. They describe it as:
If any of this is familiar, and if therapy hasn't fully resolved it, a formal evaluation can clarify what's driving it and what kind of treatment is actually indicated.
Why Accurate Diagnosis Matters for Anxiety
Anxiety disorders are among the most treatable conditions in clinical psychology — but treatment specificity matters.
Generalized Anxiety Disorder responds well to CBT and ACT approaches targeting worry and avoidance. Social Anxiety Disorder often requires a different intervention structure, with exposure work focused on social evaluation fears. Panic Disorder has specific evidence-based protocols. OCD — which is frequently misidentified as anxiety — requires Exposure and Response Prevention. PTSD presents with significant anxiety symptoms but requires trauma-focused treatment, not anxiety management.
A diagnostic evaluation identifies which of these you're dealing with — and whether more than one is present, which is common. That distinction determines the entire treatment approach. When OCD is a concern, see our OCD Testing page. When trauma is involved, learn about PTSD evaluation and treatment.
What the Anxiety Assessment Includes
Anxiety evaluations use the Standalone Diagnostic Evaluation process, focused on identifying the specific anxiety disorder or combination present and determining the right treatment path.
Investment
$900–$1,100
Initial phone screening to discuss your concerns and confirm this evaluation is the right fit
Brief screening survey, when appropriate, completed before your appointment
90-minute clinical interview covering your history, current symptoms, and how they're showing up in your life
60-minute feedback session reviewing findings and recommendations
Written clinical report documenting the evaluation, diagnosis, and specific next steps
This evaluation is conducted virtually via secure telehealth.
Because anxiety frequently co-occurs with depression, ADHD, OCD, and trauma, the evaluation examines the full picture — not just whether anxiety criteria are met, but what else may be present and how treatment should be prioritized.
Most evaluations are $900. The fee is $1,100 when additional clinical interview time beyond the standard 90 minutes is needed. This is discussed with you in advance. A superbill is available upon request for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
What You'll Walk Away With
A written clinical report with a clear diagnostic picture and specific treatment recommendations tailored to your presentation. The 60-minute feedback session gives you time to understand the findings, ask questions, and leave with a concrete direction — whether that's a specific therapy approach, medication consultation, or a combination.
You won't leave with a general recommendation to try therapy. You'll leave knowing what kind of therapy, targeting what specifically, and why.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my anxiety is severe enough to warrant an evaluation? ▼
If anxiety is affecting your work, relationships, sleep, or daily functioning — and therapy or self-management strategies haven't fully resolved it — a formal evaluation is worth considering. You don't need to be in crisis. Many people who pursue an evaluation have been managing their anxiety for years but want to understand it more clearly and treat it more effectively.
What's the difference between anxiety and OCD? ▼
They share significant overlap, and OCD is frequently misdiagnosed as generalized anxiety. The key distinction is the obsession-compulsion cycle — intrusive thoughts that trigger anxiety, followed by mental or behavioral rituals that temporarily reduce it. The evaluation process is specifically designed to identify this pattern when present. Learn more on our OCD Testing page.
Can anxiety and depression be evaluated at the same time? ▼
Yes. Anxiety and depression frequently co-occur, and the evaluation examines both. The clinical interview and written report will address all significant findings, not just the primary concern.
Does insurance cover this? ▼
This evaluation is self-pay. A superbill is available for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Contact your insurance provider to ask about out-of-network psychological testing benefits.
Do I need a referral? ▼
No referral is required. You can contact Peachtree Psychology directly to schedule an initial phone screening.
Are you currently accepting new clients? ▼
Yes. Dr. Crenshaw is currently accepting new clients for virtual evaluations.
