Michaela Hilburn, MS, LAPC, is a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor committed to helping children, adolescents, and adults feel understood, supported, and empowered. She specializes in working with anxiety, depression, and trauma, creating a safe and welcoming environment where clients can explore their experiences and move toward healing. Using evidence-based approaches such as Adlerian Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Play Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Michaela tailors therapy to each person's strengths, goals, and circumstances. She partners with clients to build resilience, enhance emotional well-being, and support meaningful personal growth.
About Michaela
Michaela earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Statistics from Kennesaw State University. She was also an undergraduate teaching assistant, assisting in Psychology, Developmental Psychology, and Research Methods and Statistics classes. Michaela also served as a research assistant.
She then completed her Master of Science in Counseling from the University of North Georgia. She was a member of the national honor society Chi Sigma Iota and also served as the Professional Development Chair. During her studies, Michaela was involved in volunteer work with several charitable organizations working with children and also worked in child care.
Michaela has worked with clients across the lifespan but specializes in children, adolescents, and young adults. She supports individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, and ADHD. She has written for the practice on play-based therapy for children and the move to middle school.
