Many adults spend years believing something is “wrong” with them — or absorbing judgments from teachers, parents, or themselves — without a clear explanation.
An accurate diagnosis can name a real challenge, reduce unfair self-blame, and point toward treatment and strategies that match what is actually going on.
Transcript
An accurate diagnosis can really change somebody’s life and their understanding of themselves. A lot of adults go through their life thinking that there is something wrong with them, or will sense that they really struggle in these areas and do not know why. And often that can lead to self-blame, judging themselves. They might have heard those judgments from other people — from teachers or parents as well.
And so getting an accurate diagnosis can really, for one, help explain what is going on for them — eliminate some of those judgments — knowing this is a real thing, this is a real challenge that you are experiencing. And then also point to how can we help you? How do we help you manage those symptoms and then get the treatment that you need?

Frequently asked questions
How can a diagnosis change someone’s life?
It can replace unexplained struggle and self-blame with a clearer understanding of a real clinical challenge — and open a path to appropriate treatment.
Does diagnosis guarantee a specific outcome?
No evaluation guarantees results. Diagnosis clarifies what is going on so recommendations and next steps can be more targeted.
What if ADHD is not the diagnosis?
Clarity still matters. Identifying the actual driver of symptoms is what guides helpful care.
